Update to Intermediate-Scale Surficial Geologic Mapping Released

We are pleased to announce that we have added 16 new maps to our intermediate-scale surficial geology compilation. These maps have been digitized from older geologic maps originally published on paper over the past few decades. The maps are now available for viewing on our Geologic Information Portal and for download as a geodatabase from our website.

Intermediate-scale maps are those that fall between scales of 1:24,000 (zoomed in) and 1:100,000 (zoomed out). This new update adds maps at scales of 1:31,680 and 1:48,000 to the existing 1:62,000-scale collection.

The new maps cover areas across the state, including the eastern Willapa Hills and Greenacres near Spokane. We will continue to add to the collection as new legacy geologic maps are digitized!
