New Emergency Preparedness Webpage

We are pleased to announce the initial publication of our Emergency Preparedness webpage!

Washington State is one of the most beautiful places in the country. This beauty is due in large part to active geologic processes. The down-side is that these active geologic processes can sometimes be hazardous to our lives, buildings, and other infrastructure.

Our new webpage details how to make a plan and prepare for geologic emergencies.

We have information on communication plans, emergency alerts, disaster kits, pets, how to practice, and post-disaster information.

There is also information for each type of geologic emergency—earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic activity, and landslides. These sections include information about what to do before, during, and after specific geologic events. They also contain information on how to learn about your risks, specific things to prepare for, and ways to mitigate damage.
