This month’s image was contributed by one of Washington State Geological Survey’s most preeminent geologists, J. Eric Schuster. He explains, “I took the picture from the Pacific Crest Trail above Crystal Mountain ski area on September 23, 2011. The view is to the southwest toward Mount Rainier (14,410 ft, 4392 m). The Emmons Glacier dominates the center of the photo, with Little Tahoma Peak to the left at 11,139 ft (3395 m) and Willis Wall to the right, partially in clouds. The ridge in the foreground is Crystal Mountain.”
I think we can all agree that we wish we’d been there with him!
